What an awesome teaching Pastor Gregory has been doing this month titled "Face and Fix Your Encounters. It comes out of the Book of Exodus, and we have been going through Chapters 4-8. An encounter is a battle, a conflict, a fight. According to Exodus 4:18-19, whatever has persecuted you in the past is gone. It is not here anymore. We must be conscious and mindful. Those encounters are gone and you are about to enter into a new place.
Exodus 5:1-5 shows us that if we are disobedient to God and do what we want to do, we will have to pay some kind of consequence. Pharaoh had one thing on his mind, "this is not costing me one cent. Go back to work."Moses and Aaron were asking Pharaoh to release the people so they can go and worship God in the wilderness . Pharaoh refused and persecuted the Israelites. Pharaoh didn't recognize God's authority.
In Exodus 6:6-8, God gave us four principals, four patterns and four promises:
1. I will rescue and redeem my people from Egypt (Exodus 6:6). The Holy Spirit reminds and teaches us, "I have rescued you. I have redeemed you From Egypt." Egypt represents your sin.
2. He has made us His people.
3. He is my God, and
4. He is bringing us to the promise land. (Exodus 6:8).
The reason why Moses kept protesting God is that he was fighting two fights. The fight of the flesh and the fight of faith. God tells Moses "I am still with you, you are not fighting this battle on your own. I am with you." Those of you who are reading this, God is telling you the same thing He told Moses "I am still with you. You are not fighting this battle on your own". Continue to trust Him and learn to develop your faith and not your flesh.
