Pastor Gregory has just started a new series titled "Understanding Your Pastor." Your pastor is the man or woman that God has given to you to impart the word of God into your life. In John 21:15-17, Jesus asks Peter 3 times if he loves Him, and all three times Peter answered, "Yes." Jesus told Peter, "If you love Me, feed my sheep." The word 'feed' means caring or looking after. One of the ways that a pastor shows his love for the people is by feeding them and giving them the Word of God; He protects, guards and nourishes the people. He nourishes your soul and reinsures you that God is with you. By him doing this, it demonstrates the love of Christ.
Acts 20:28 is an awesome Scripture. The Apostle Paul is telling the Ephesian elders, "So guard yourselves and God's people. Feed and shepherd God's flock." Pastors should lead, feed and protect you through the ministry of the Word of God. A pastor gives you instructions in the Word of God under the unction of the Holy Spirit. He is devoted to reading and studying the Scripture. He is devoted to prayer and is on call 24/7.
A pastor should be a stable person who is pleasing God. He should be modest, humble and should have Godly fear. A pastor also makes sure that the body of Christ is equipped and ready to go out there. He trains the people to do the work of the Lord. He should be teaching you how to be in God's grace. He is a person that wears many hats and will certainly be rewarded when that day comes when the Lord tells him face to face, "Well done my good and faithful servant."
